Grammar Girls win Devon Ski Championships

Thirty schools from all over Devon, involving nearly 80 skiers, contested the Devon Schools Ski Championships at Torquay’s Barton slope, and the TGGS Team came away with the top prize.

In appalling weather school teams from Plymouth, Exeter, and all over Devon contested a straightforward but very fast course over two timed runs each. The TGGS Team of Eve Boswood-Clark, Georgia Brooks, Madeline and Ailsa Keating, who have been competing at National Schools level this year, were joined by up-and-coming racers Nicolette Morrison, Amelia Matthews, and Orla Sullivan. They won the Secondary Schools category ahead of Teign School in second, and Stover third, and they also win a Schools Snowsports training session with Coach Phil Brown.

Individually, in a very hotly contested race, Eve Boswood-Clark finished just six hundredths of a second ahead to become Overall Winner of the whole event. This is the first time ever that a girl has won outright, and she also picked up a pair of the brand-new Sled Dogs Snow Skates that are taking the Snowsports world by storm as a fun alternative for skiers and skaters.

With Eve picking up the Top Girl trophy, Madeline Keating just edged out Georgia Brooks to take the Senior Girl prize. In the Intermediate Girls, following Eve was Ailsa Keating.

A fabulous days work for our amazing skiers!
