Sixth Form Dress Code

We fully appreciate that young women may wish to express their identity through the way in which they dress.  Our aim is to allow your daughter to do this, whilst still presenting a professional image to the rest of the school and to members of the public.  Therefore, there is no set uniform in Sixth Form, but instead a simple Dress Code that we ask all Sixth Form students to abide by.  We ask girls to observe this code which seeks to ensure that they avoid extremes of fashion, are dressed smartly, appropriately and safely for a place of study.

From Monday to Thursday, all Sixth Form students are required to abide by the code and wear:

  • a smart tailored, plain black jacket/blazer (no denim or leather) or alternatively a black TGGS Sixth Form Hoodie
  • a white or cream plain blouse, t shirt or jumper (no strappy tops)
  • black trousers or a black knee-length skirt (no ripped denim or leather)
  • smart black shoes, black trainers (no other colour) or boots;
  • a smart knee-length, plain black dress suitable for a place of work is also acceptable

Sixth Form Hoodies are a unisex fit and can be ordered by completing the order form and returning it to the Sixth Form office.  Payment can be made through ParentPay, or for students new to the school in September, please use our online payment portal – clearly stating the reason for your payment – Sixth Form Hoodie – and your daughter’s full name.  Cash or cheques can be accepted on enrolment days.  The deadline for orders and payment for the Autumn Term is Friday, 13th September.

In a move to allow students greater freedom of expression, on Friday’s only, students will be permitted to wear smart casual mufti suitable for a place of work.  Students that do not abide by the Dress Code from Monday to Thursday will not be permitted to join in with ‘Freestyle Friday’.  Students are asked to contribute £1 per month to Freestyle Friday, and once a term all monies collected will be donated to charities that have been chosen by our student body.  In our increasingly cash free society, for your convenience we will be adding the payment of £11 to cover the year on ParentPay.
