Thirty students from Years 11 to 13 braved temperatures down to minus seventeen degrees Celcius in Krakow in December. They had the opportunity to explore the history of Krakow and to find out about the Jewish experience, during the Second World War in particular.
There was a visit to the Old Jewish Quarter of the city, the Jewish ghetto and Schindler’s Factory, where there is an excellent museum about the Polish experience of World War Two.
On their final day the group visited Auschwitz and learned at first hand about the suffering of so many in those times. All agreed that there was a great deal to be grateful for in our modern world. A fantastic and inspiring trip.
Many thanks to Mr Strachan, Mr Bowley and Miss Martin for organising the visit and for accompanying the students.
