Experience R.E. Day

Experience R.E. Day for Year Eight offered a variety of new and unique experiences for the students.

 

In the food technology lab, the students cooked a Langar meal of vegetarian curries and dhal which they shared and served to all comers in the Sikh tradition. Buddhist prayer flags were created in textiles and Arabic tile patterns were used to generate some unusually striking art work. Jewish festivals were explored through arts and craft such as beautifully decorated Elijah’s cups whilst Hindu stories were the backdrop for drama. Earnest discussion occurred in the Philosophical debating workshop whilst some learning Arabic for beginners can now greet one another (mahaban) and apologise (shukran.) Christianity was investigated through Liturgical Dance, Community games and activities and music in religion. Suffice to say great fun was had by all.
