History Day

On the 29th June Year 9 were involved in World War Two day where they had the opportunity to take part in a variety of workshops to give them a taste of the period, including:

• Cooking with rations - making a variety of cakes and pastries using authentic recipes
• Learning how to dance 1940s style
• Experiencing the blackout and the Blitz through drama
• Code-breaking, based on the work of Bletchley Park
• The Home Front tea room - hearing the news of the D.Day landings from the BBC over a cuppa

A great time was had by all but were all in agreement that the highlight of the day was meeting with the veterans and visitors who shared their experiences. A big thank you to all those involved for making this such a special day.
