Y10 South Devon Rounders Champs!

On Thursday 9th June our Year 10 team travelled to Stover to play in the South Devon End of Season Rounders Tournament.

The first match against Stover they won ½ to 4 ½. They then went on to play Teign where they convincingly beat them 13 to 1 ½. Next up was Coombeshead, who proved they were slick in the field, however, TGGS created some fantastic batting and clinched the match 8 ½ to 5 ½. The final match in their pool was against St Cuthbert Mayne. Play was delayed due to a facial injury to a Cuthbert Mayne player, but TGGS went on to win comfortably 8 to 3.

This meant TGGS went into the semi's to play Kingsbridge. Despite the damp and slippery conditions TGGS won 7 to 2 ½.

In the final we were up against Newton Abott College who had some terrific deep fielders. However, TGGS managed to keep on top of them with a terrific partnership between Lily Rutland as backstop and Claudia Lofthouse on first post. TGGS won 7 to 2 ½.

A HUGE well done to the team who are now South Devon Schools Rounders Champions!
