Rounders Tournament

 

The Year 10 rounders squad represented TGGS in the Torbay schools end of season rounders tournament at Stover School on Tuesday, 4^th June.

 

There were fifteen schools competing, and in true fashion, our girls started strong from the outset beating South Dartmoor, Dawlish, Cuthbert Mayne, Paignton College and Westlands convincingly during the heats. The fielding skills were excellent throughout the afternoon, with a multitude of great catches in deep field by Lottie Crompton, Lottie Schofield and team captain, Ella Defriend.

 

The standard of batting was also exceptional with intelligent shots executed throughout, particularly by Cameron Milstead, Lottie Crompton and Lilah Hughes.  Clara Smith, Kim Rushworth and Brittanie Tonge shared the responsibility of bowling with ease, rarely giving the opposition many chances to score.  A much tougher game against Kingsbridge resulted in a well-matched draw, leaving TGGS qualifying as runners-up in their pool due to batting differences.

 

This meant the team faced Stoodley Knowle in the semi-finals, and although the girls battled hard, they were simply outplayed by Stoodley in the end (7-3.5).  TGGS finished in third place; a fantastic afternoon of rounders with great weather and an abundance of smiling faces.  Well done on a brilliant team effort to all who played!
