Mr Paul Wheller, a former Business Studies & Economics teacher who left the school in December 2017, has recently appeared in Exeter Crown Court charged with possession of indecent images of children.

Once informed by police of the discovery, Mr Wheller was immediately suspended and did not return to the school site. The school followed its safeguarding procedures and a proper and detailed investigation, led by the Police and Local Authority Designated Officer, was undertaken.

THESE OFFENCES TOOK PLACE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL AND OUR STUDENTS HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY WAY.

The school acted promptly when notified of the matter and our policies were effective and robust enough to respond according to regulatory guidance.

We have been restricted from discussing the case or disclosing any information to parents until after a conviction.
