TGGS are delighted to be hosting another Healthcare Conference for students, following the success of the last one in March 2023. The conference will be bigger and better than before, giving students, aspiring to applications and careers in healthcare, a great opportunity to explore their interests and gain valuable information. We welcome students of any gender from Years 10 to 13 from schools and colleges across South Devon.
The booking system is now open:

The programme will start with keynote speeches from a Doctor, Vet, and an Allied Health professional. There will be 45-minute workshops and shorter carousel sessions with different healthcare professionals, with plenty of time to ask questions and discuss.
Professionals who are volunteering their time for carousel discussions include hospital doctors, GPs, vets, a veterinary nurse, pharmacist, neuro rehabilitation therapist, psychotherapist, dentist, radiographer and physio, with more committing each week. We have commitments to attend and run workshops from Plymouth University, Bath University, University of the West of England and Exeter University medicine/healthcare faculties, as well as the volunteering and work experience coordinators for Torbay NHS. We are also welcoming back many former TGGS students who are now studying a wide range of healthcare courses, to share their own experiences and give tips on applying.
A particular feature this year will be healthcare science, with a number of professionals involved in medical physics, hospital biochemistry labs, genomics, etc. for students who are keen on a rewarding STEM career but who don’t necessarily want to work directly with patients.
The day will run from 10.00 to 3.00 p.m. and we ask that as a condition of booking, those attending commit to the full programme – for safeguarding reasons we don’t want attendees to go off site or leave early during the day (unless for a medical emergency).
This is a not-for-profit conference, with all staff, professionals and university representatives volunteering their time for free, but we are asking for a small contribution of £10.00 to help us cover the cost of the event. A sandwich lunch and tea will be provided for each participant – please indicate dietary preferences on the form. If cost is a barrier to attending the event, please contact us to discuss.
There is an opportunity on the form to indicate what aspects of healthcare you are most interested in – which will be really helpful as we recruit our last speakers, and help us assign students to the most relevant workshops. We can’t guarantee every session you attend will be focused on your specific interests but we’ll do our best to address those while giving you a chance to hear from professionals in a range of sectors, including some you may not have thought about.
We really hope this opportunity excites you and if you wish to reserve your place at the Conference, the booking link is below, along with payment information. The deadline for places is 7th March 2025.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries.
