KS3 Overview

Building upon the knowledge learnt in KS2 we will start to introduce new aspects within, algebra, geometry, space and measure and probability, increasing difficulty whilst ensuring a deep understanding of the Mathematics being taught.

Building on KS2 and preparing for KS4…

Within KS2 all of the key aspects of the national curriculum at KS3 are touched upon. We in Maths build and extend upon those fundamental ideas, ensuring that all topics are linked together and that students have the opportunity to use those skills in wide variety of contexts. This then leads onto KS4 building even more upon the content taught at KS3.

KS3 Assessment

Assessment within lessons takes place in a variety of ways. We in Maths use whiteboards, live marking and show calling work to assess understanding within our lessons. We formally assess students once a half term, testing the knowledge learnt more recently as well as recapping content taught previously.

Students also have exam weeks once a year where we in maths assess their calculator and non-calculator knowledge.
