TGGS’ Parent Teacher Association or PTA was re-established on 9 May 2023 to reconnect the vital bond between parents, teachers and the community.
With schools experiencing a severe lack of funding and increasing costs, the aim of the PTA is to raise funds and make the school environment a better place for our children to learn.
Meetings are held every half-term where PTA activities are co-ordinated. Everyone is welcome to attend!
The following roles were appointed at last year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM):
Helen Lauer, Chair of TGGS’ PTA
I’m a mum of one, a Neuro Rehab Therapist in the NHS and a Shiatsu Practitioner.
I really wanted to be part of a team supporting and bringing positive energy into the school. Our recently formed PTA has a fun and open mindset, welcoming anyone who is willing to lend a hand - whether that’s for an hour or a whole event. We enjoy a laugh while we’re meeting and combine our skills to raise funds to support the school in a variety of events.

We are joined by Sharon Wallwork, Director of Finance and Resource at TGGS, who attends all PTA meetings as well as supporting all activities and answering any school-related questions.
Meetings are often held online to allow parents/carers outside of Torbay to attend. Social gatherings for all PTA members and anyone considering joining the PTA are held in person throughout the year. Being part of the PTA is a great way to meet many new friends.

Any support you are able to provide would be much appreciated. We would like to set up a bank of helpers who can offer help at times to suit them – whether that is organising an event, selling drinks at the bar, cooking, creating social media posts, booking a social event, sourcing raffle prizes and donations or sorting pre-loved uniform.
We appreciate life is busy, so there is no obligation to help, just if you can!

Pre-Loved School Uniform
We have a dedicated team who sell second-hand school uniform. All uniform is checked for damage and washed. We are currently in the process of creating a stock list of items available to purchase ranging from skirts to jackets and TGGS sportswear – all at a very reasonable price. This will be included on the website shortly. If you would like to contact the team please e-mail swallwork@tggsacademy.org listing the items/sizes you require.
